University College is North Carolina Central University’s central hub for academic transition, engagement, and student success. We help scholars build a strong foundation for college, navigate their academic journey, overcome barriers, and make steady progress toward graduation.

For many students, University College is one of their first academic connections at NCCU. We provide coordinated support from the transition into college through the critical first and second years. Our team works collaboratively with students, families, faculty, staff, and campus partners to ensure that every scholar has access to the guidance, resources, and encouragement needed to succeed.

University College provides a comprehensive network of student-centered programs and services:

• Academic Advising helps scholars understand degree requirements, select courses, explore majors, and develop academic plans.
• Academic Coaching supports goal setting, time management, organization, study strategies, accountability, and academic confidence.
• First- and Second-Year Initiatives provide programs, outreach, and targeted support during the most critical stages of the college experience.
• Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction offer proactive academic support in challenging courses and subject areas.
• The Writing and Speaking Studio helps scholars strengthen their written, oral, and presentation skills.
• The Aspiring Eagles Academy prepares incoming students for college through an intensive summer bridge experience focused on academics, leadership, mentorship, and community.
• TRIO Student Support Services provides eligible scholars with individualized academic, personal, financial, and career-related assistance.
• Student-Athlete Academic Support helps student-athletes balance academic expectations, athletic responsibilities, eligibility requirements, and progress toward graduation.
• The University Testing Center provides secure and accessible testing services for NCCU scholars and members of the surrounding community.
