Professional Development Opportunities for Teachers
In addition to our BRITE visits and our one-week High School Summer Biotechnology camp, we host professional development workshops for middle and high school teachers, both STEM-focused and cross-curricular. In these workshops, teachers are provided with hands-on training, resources, and hands-on activities that can be easily adapted in a classroom setting.
Workshop topics include, but not limited to:
- Noroviruses
- GMOs (genetically modified organisms)
- Cancer
- Photosynthesis
To date, we have hosted more than 800 teachers from various counties within NC.
The format of our professional development workshops vary from one day to several days and are typically held in the summer. Teachers participate in learning modules that they can share with their students in the classroom and learn more about student opportunities offered by BRITE and NCCU.
