Registration typically begins in October (Spring) and April (Fall/Summer). Registration dates will be listed on the Advising Resources Lib-Guide for all current students. Visiting students register after all NCCU School of Law students have been registered. Please contact the Law Registrar regarding dates. 1L/1E/2E are registered by the Law Registrar (Fall/Spring). 1E/2E are allowed to register themselves for Summer only.
Log in to Banner Self-Service. Be mindful of the posted deadlines. The last day to add a class is always within the first 2 weeks of classes. The last day to withdraw a class is always the last day of classes.
Auditing requires instructor and registrar approval. Pass/fail options vary — check the academic policy or consult your advisor. Students outside of the Law School will need to contact the Law Registrar for this request.
Submit a Course Withdrawal Form before the last day of classes. Go to www.nccu.edu/registrar to complete the form.
Contact your academic advisor to let them know you are withdrawing from the class.
Use Degree Works, Navigate or schedule a graduation audit with the Law Registrar’s Office or your academic advisor.
Students must complete all required credit hours, 3 credit hours of a practice-oriented writing course (POW), 6 credit hours of an experiential learning course, which includes 3 credit hours for Appellate Advocacy, and maintain academic standing. Students must have completed 88 credit hours and have a minimum GPA of 2.0. All dual-degree students need 79 credit hours, and 9 (12 for Master of Public Policy) will be carried over from your dual degree program to finish your Juris Doctorate (JD).
Graduation applications are submitted via Banner. Watch for email instructions each term from the University Registrar’s Office. Also, watch out for Law Registrar emails to get information on deadlines and information needed to complete the graduation process for the Law Registrar. Required course checklists must be completed and electronically signed, both by the student and their advisor. Be sure to submit through the link, not via email, during the graduating semester (Fall/Spring/Summer).
You are welcome to participate in the commencement ceremony; however, you will not receive your diploma or transcript until all credits and grades have been accounted for. You can also join in the hooding ceremony. December graduates can participate in the May hooding ceremony, as it is not offered for December graduates.
Submit the required form and release it directly to our office. We will complete and return it to the appropriate bar authority.
