The occurrence and frequency of stress-related injuries and illnesses continue to rise as the healthcare workforce remains overburdened. The aim of this project, to teach Stress First Aid (SFA) for healthcare workers to diverse groups of health professions students at Duke and North Carolina Central University, creates an opportunity to target the acute and chronic expressions of stress experienced by healthcare practitioners early through coordinated peer support. The goals of SFA are to preserve life, prevent further harm, and promote recovery.
