Eagle Shuttle Service

The Eagle Shuttle provides transportation from the Latham Parking Deck to stops throughout the NCCU campus every 20 minutes during the fall and spring semesters via the Maroon, Gray, and Verdant Green routes. Students, faculty, and staff can all ride for free. 

The Maroon route operates M–F from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Gray route operates on an as-needed basis from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. NCCU Transportation also provides commuter transit assistance via the Eagle Express On-Demand Shuttle and the Saturday On-Demand Shuttle service to and from both on- and off-campus locations. Hours of service are subject to change. The Verdant Green Route provides scheduled weekday transportation between NCCU, select off-campus housing locations, Duke University Research Drive, and Downtown Durham. 

The Verdant Green Shuttle operates during five scheduled service periods each weekday:

• 7 a.m. departure
• 10 a.m. departure
• 1 p.m. departure
• 4 p.m. departure
• 7 p.m. departure

Students should arrive at their designated stop prior to the scheduled time. The shuttle cannot be held for individual riders.

Request an On-Demand Shuttle

NCCU Transportation operates the Eagle Express On-Demand/Off-Campus Shuttle during the Fall and Spring semesters servicing approved off-campus housing locations outside the Verdant Green service area. Please contact the Transportation Dispatch Office at 919-530-5139 or [email protected] to have your off-campus housing added to our service network. Eagle Express Shuttle service to off-campus housing is subject to eligibility requirements, service-area limitations, operational availability, and approval by NCCU Transportation. Additional terms and conditions may apply.

Inbound transit and outbound transit trips operate during separate service periods. 

Inbound shuttle from approved off-campus housing to NCCU service schedule:

Eagle Express will collect riders from approved off-campus housing locations during the following service periods:

• 8–9 a.m.
• 11 a.m.–12 p.m.
• 2–3 p.m.
• 5–6 p.m.
• 7–8 p.m.

Outbound service from NCCU to approved off-campus housing service schedule:

• 9–10 a.m.
• 12–1 p.m.
• 3–4 p.m.
• 6–7 p.m.
• 8–9 p.m. 

All outbound Eagle Express trips will originate from the Latham Parking Deck Surface Lot, located at Maroon Shuttle Stop #1 and the RDU/Amtrak Shuttle stop.

Students must be at the Latham Parking Deck Surface Lot and ready to board before the applicable departure. Shuttles cannot be held for riders who arrive late.

These periods indicate when the shuttle will begin collecting scheduled riders. They do not guarantee arrival on campus at a particular time.

Eagle Express reservations must be submitted through PassioGO at least 10 minutes before the applicable service period begins. For example, a student who wants transportation from approved off-campus housing during the 8–9 a.m. service period must submit the request no later than 7:50 a.m. Furthermore, an outbound request submitted at 10 a.m. would be scheduled for the next available inbound service period, which begins at 12 p.m.  Submitting a request does not authorize a shuttle to remain beyond its scheduled departure time.

All rides must be reserved through the PassioGo app.

The Eagle Express Shuttle also provides transit for students traveling to and from verified internship sites located at least within seven (7) miles of NCCU’s campus in the 27707 ZIP code. Internship transportation requests must be verified in writing and submitted to NCCU Transportation on official NCCU letterhead. Eagle Express service to verified internship locations is subject to eligibility requirements, verification, service-area limitations, operational availability, and approval by NCCU Transportation. Please be advised that the Eagle Express Shuttle does not operate during Summer I, Summer II, or Winter sessions, on holidays, or when the University is closed.

As an additional transportation resource, NCCU Transportation has partnered with GoTriangle to provide fare-free access to public transportation for NCCU students, faculty, and staff through the GoTriangle GoPass program. Commuters interested in using this service may contact NCCU Transportation to obtain their GoPass. GoDurham, the City of Durham's public transit service, offers city-wide bus service. GoDurham serves the NCCU campus directly on transit routes #700, #5, #8, and #12. NCCU Transportation now operates the Eagle On-Demand Saturday Shuttle every Saturday from 12 p.m.–5 p.m. The Eagle On-Demand Saturday Shuttle operates anywhere on campus and provides shuttle services to the following off-campus locations:

• The Streets at Southpoint Shopping Center (6910 Fayetteville Rd., Durham, NC 27713)

The final pickup time from any off-campus location is 4 p.m. All rides must be reserved through the PassioGo app. Riders can call the Transportation Dispatch Office at 919-530-5139 or email [email protected] with any questions or concerns about the Saturday shuttle. Service hours are subject to change based on operational needs, ridership demand, staffing availability, traffic conditions, and other unforeseen circumstances. NCCU operates the on-demand Eagle After Dark Shuttle from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m., Monday through Friday, during the Fall and Spring semesters. This service is available exclusively to students, faculty, and staff.

The service is only available on campus, and riders must reserve rides through PassioGO and provide a physical copy of their valid student ID to ride.

To request a ride, please submit an on-demand shuttle request via PassioGo. 

The Special Event Eagle Shuttle provides transportation during NCCU athletic events, special events, and other designated university activities. Routes, stops, and service times will be announced through official NCCU communications or posted in the PassioGO app before each event. Service availability and operating details may vary by event.
