GoDurham, the City of Durham's public transit service, offers city-wide bus service. GoDurham serves the NCCU Campus directly on transit routes #700, #5, #8, and #12. Student Benefits
The Piedmont and Carolinian rail routes will take you from Durham to Charlotte, Greensboro, High Point, Richmond, New York, and Washington, D.C. Students can save 15% on a regular (full) adult rail fare. Check out Amtrak’s Student Discounts page for more information. 601 West Main Street, Durham, NC 27701-2887 is the closest Amtrak Station. The Amtrak shuttle on-demand service can be scheduled same day with a valid submission of this Eagle-RDU-Amtrak Form or through the PassioGO app. This benefit is available to active students year-round, except during university holidays.

Current NCCU students ages 17–24 can save 15% on eligible Amtrak travel through Amtrak’s national student discount program. Veteran Benefits
NCCU students, faculty, and staff who are U.S. military veterans may receive a 10% discount on the lowest available rail fare on most Amtrak trains. A valid military veteran identification card is required. The discount is available to eligible veterans who served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Space Force, NOAA Corps, U.S. Public Health Service, or U.S. Merchant Marine. The discount does not apply to sleeping accommodations or certain Amtrak Connection services and may not be combined with other discounts. Additional restrictions may apply. NCCU Faculty & Staff Benefits
Current NCCU faculty and staff who are North Carolina state employees can save 15% on eligible Amtrak travel within North Carolina. The discount applies to regular adult coach fares on the Carolinian and Piedmont trains and eligible connecting services. The discount may be used for both business and personal travel. Blackout dates, seat availability, fare restrictions, and additional terms apply. The offer cannot be combined with other discounts or used for reservations booked with Amtrak Guest Rewards points. Employees should access the offer through NC By Train and review Amtrak’s current terms, schedules, fares, and blackout dates before booking.
Piedmont & Carolinian Share Fare
Planning a trip with classmates, coworkers, friends, or family? NCCU students, faculty, staff, and members of the greater Eagle community can save up to 60% when traveling together on North Carolina’s Piedmont and Carolinian trains via the Piedmont & Carolinian Share Fare.
Groups of three to eight passengers must book together and travel on the same itinerary. The first two passengers pay the lowest available fare, while additional passengers receive increasing discounts:

Intercity bus providers serve the Triangle through stops in Chapel Hill and Durham, offering regional and long-distance travel throughout North Carolina and beyond through Greyhound & Sunway. Service in Chapel Hill is provided through the NCDOT-subsidized intercity bus program and operated by Greyhound Lines. Durham is served through Greyhound’s national intercity bus network.
