African American women continue to have a high risk for HIV infection. Limited studies have been conducted to understand the effects of relationship imperative on sexual behaviors of African American women. A valid and reliable instrument is needed to measure relationship imperative. This project is designed to develop and pilot test an instrument for measuring relationship imperative among African American college women aged 18–24.
