NCCU Civic Engagement Ambassadors
The purpose of the NCCU Civic Engagement Ambassadors is to enhance student and community engagement, especially in elections. Moreover, we work to make sure students are informed about the policy process, and lead the fight to resist voter suppression.
Responsibilities
- Research social issues and client population within the community as selected.
- Create at least one civic engagement project/event that addresses a community need.
- Maintain civic engagement project logs including successes and challenges.
- Present civic engagement project outcomes in a culminating presentation.
- Liaison to student groups, departments, and community partners.
- Make presentations to classrooms, students, and community partners.
- Attend on-campus civic engagement events and workshops
- Attend student group meetings that are civic-minded
- Publicize events through written and oral communication
- Create marketing materials for various events
- Execute social media campaign
The NCCU Civic Engagement Ambassadors also learn and demonstrate the following skills:
- Civic and community engagement
- Development of self-efficacy for leadership
- Organizational planning, communication, and development
- Awareness and understanding of various leadership styles and approaches
- Group problem-solving and decision-making through shared leadership and collaboration
- Leadership skill development, including ethical reasoning and decision-making, oral and written communication skills, critical thinking, goal setting & visioning, motivation, and creativity
