North Carolina Central University (NCCU) has been selected to join the ranks of institutions participating in the 2025 Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) Initiative, a faculty development program funded by the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF).

NCCU will receive full sponsorship for professional development activities valued at $174,750. The award supports NCCU’s commitment to academic excellence and transformative teaching.

“This opportunity not only strengthens our existing faculty development activities but also empowers our faculty members to lead with innovation,” said Laurell Malone, Ed.D., coordinator of the Office of Faculty Professional Development. “We are honored to partner with TMCF and ACUE in this initiative, which ensures our students are well-prepared for academic success and achievement.”

The award includes:

  • ACUE Certification Pathway in Effective Instruction: Two in-depth courses that train faculty in evidence-based teaching strategies proven to increase student engagement and learning.

  • Self-Paced Teaching with AI Quick Study Series: Enrollment for up to 120 faculty members in cutting-edge modules designed to explore how artificial intelligence can personalize instruction and increase student outcomes.

Launching in July 2025 and continuing through June 2026, the yearlong initiative will engage teaching faculty at all ranks, building strategic instructional capacity across NCCU’s academic community.
