North Carolina Central University (NCCU) has named Kimberly Hill-Davis, Ph.D., as a visiting scholar in its Office of Community Engagement and Service. Hill-Davis currently serves as director of community engagement for the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences at the University of Tennessee.

Her appointment is a strategic step in NCCU’s work to strengthen ties with local communities and expand its civic impact.

Hill-Davis brings extensive experience in community engagement and public-purpose leadership. She is an active member of the Carnegie Leadership for Public Purpose Application Committee and the Carnegie Leadership Team for Community Engagement, two national initiatives that support higher education’s role in advancing the public good.

At NCCU, Hill will focus on building partnerships between the university and the broader Durham community. Planned initiatives include interactive workshops, public dialogues and community events that foster collaboration across sectors and encourage student involvement. The programs will highlight best practices in academic and sustainable community engagement.

"I’m truly honored to become a visiting scholar at North Carolina Central University. This opportunity aligns perfectly with my passion for community engagement and the important role that higher education plays in serving the public good,” she said. “I’m excited to work alongside dedicated faculty and community organizations to build thoughtful partnerships that enrich our scholarship and community ties. Through interactive workshops, public dialogues, and community events, we will actively inspire students to take part in meaningful engagement and highlight best practices that can make a real difference in the Durham community and beyond.”
