North Carolina Community Legal Education and Advocacy Network (NC LEARN)

The Purpose and Mission of the Network
The purpose and mission of the network is to provide training, support and innovation for community members assisting people seeking justice to know the law, use the law and shape the law to empower them to advocate for themselves and their communities.
Community Legal Advocates
Community legal advocates are community organizers with training in areas of the law, often working with lawyers to build capacity and empower individuals and groups seeking justice to know the law, use the law and shape the law to achieve justice.
The Justice Institute provides legal, technical, and organizing support to non-profits that are providing general legal information to community members in an effort to help people advocate for themselves with the assistance of tool kits, do-it-yourself guides, and information brochures.
The Justice Institute focuses its community legal advocacy on issues of housing and is assisting other non-profits with issues such as environmental justice, land-loss, domestic violence, criminal justice debt, and driver's license restoration.
