Welcome to the Department of Public Administration at North Carolina Central University, where we train leaders in "Truth and Service."
Public service requires professionals who can analyze complex problems, manage organizations and resources, communicate effectively, exercise sound judgment, and lead with integrity. Our goal is to prepare students to do that work well — and to understand the responsibility that comes with serving communities and the public interest.
NCCU's Master of Public Administration program approaches that work through the University's enduring tradition of Truth and Service. Our Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA)-accredited M.P.A. combines professional knowledge and analytical skills with an emphasis on ethical leadership, public accountability, and service to all communities. Students connect scholarship to practice through applied coursework, research, internships and professional experiences, interaction with practitioners, and opportunities for professional development.
Our students also come to the NCCU M.P.A. at different stages of their careers. The program provides flexible pathways for students preparing to enter public service, professionals seeking to advance, and experienced leaders looking to deepen their skills. NCCU students become part of a community that includes faculty, classmates, over 50 years of alumni, public and nonprofit leaders, and partners throughout Durham, the Triangle, North Carolina, and beyond.
