At NCCU, faculty, staff, and students can find information about the software available for academic, research, and administrative purposes. Our goal is to make software access easy, secure, and compliant with university policies.
Software Support Services
Software Purchases at NCCU
Before purchasing software for your department, all requests must be reviewed by Information Technology Services (ITS). This review helps protect University data, prevent duplicate software purchases, ensure compliance with university policies, and verify compatibility with existing campus technology.
Software Purchase Process
1. Identify the Need
Define the business need for the software and determine whether NCCU already provides a comparable solution.
2. Submit an IT Request
Provide the software name, vendor, business justification, estimated cost, funding source, and any required documentation, such as a HECVAT, when applicable. Submit ticket.
3. ITS Review
ITS and the software stewards evaluate requests for security, accessibility, licensing, technical compatibility, data privacy, and ongoing support requirements. Additional reviews may be required based on the software's functionality or the type of university data it will access.
4. Purchase Approval
After ITS approval, the request proceeds through the University's purchasing process, including requisitions, contracts (when required), and purchase orders.
5. Implementation and Support
Following procurement, ITS will assist with software deployment, licensing, account configuration, and integration with university systems, as appropriate.
Important: All software acquisitions, including new purchases, renewals, subscriptions, cloud-based applications (SaaS), hosted services, and technology-related services, must receive ITS approval before any purchase or contract is initiated, regardless of funding source or cost.
