The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge (ALL IN) is recognizing Sha’Lexus Sanders for mobilizing students and expanding civic engagement efforts on campus.

Sanders is a senior political science major at North Carolina Central University (NCCU), where she serves as Student Government Association (SGA) president and student representative on the Board of Trustees. She led more than 1,000 students to participate in the Soar to the Polls initiative in 2024, surpassing the campus's 2020 polling site numbers and contributing to NCCU’s recognition as a Most Engaged Campus for College Student Voting. Sanders has also held roles with the North Carolina General Assembly (intern for Representative Amber Baker), Campus Vote Project and RallyNC, and continues to champion student voice, equity and access in higher education and beyond.

“Be part of something bigger than yourself; your voice was never meant to be small. You carry influence you may not always see, but others feel it,” said Sanders. “Voting is more than a right; it is power, legacy, and impact. Don’t let anything or anyone silence what was always meant to be heard.”

The ALL IN Challenge, an initiative of the Civic Nation nonprofit organization, empowers colleges and universities to strengthen nonpartisan student civic engagement across 1,000 campuses nationwide. Members of the 2026 Student Voting Honor Roll were nominated by campus leaders for their dedication and excellence in voter education, registration and turnout in 2025. “From hosting registration drives to initiating conversations with classmates in the hallway, our 2026 Student Voting Honor Roll is filled with students who exemplify what it means to be a leader in civic engagement,” said Jen Domagal-Goldman, executive director of the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge. “As college students face increasing barriers to voting while on campus, these students are making nonpartisan voter participation a lifelong habit for themselves, their peers and their campuses.”
