The North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Division of Institutional Advancement reports exceptional year-end results for Fiscal Year 2025, securing a record $17.2 million in total fundraising.

Alumni participation rose from 8% in FY2024 to 10% in FY2025, with the number of alumni donors increasing to 2,439. Alumni contributions grew from $2.8 million to $4.5 million.

The university achieved notable progress in strengthening its financial foundation, with the endowment growing by 27% over the past year.

The success of NCCU’s fundraising efforts is reflected in the experiences of students like Daijah Boyd, a Business Administration major set to graduate in May 2026. “The Tina Schmook Scholarship allows me to focus on my studies and campus involvement while pursuing my dream of a career in sports marketing and media—without placing a financial burden on my family,” she said.

Berkita Bradford, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Hospitality Management, said the Keith J. and Dr. Marilyn Sutton-Haywood dining room donation enhances NCCU’s ability to attract top students and invest in professional growth for both students and faculty. She noted that the funds strengthen the program through experiential learning, industry engagement, and global career readiness.

“At North Carolina Central University, we measure success by the opportunities we create for our students to thrive,” said Chancellor Karrie G. Dixon. “This $17.2 million milestone is a clear reflection of the collective belief in their potential and the future they will shape. The generosity of our supporters fuels and supports academic programs, special initiatives, and scholarships, which expands access to higher education, and empowers Eagles to lead with purpose in their communities and beyond.”

“The fundraising success achieved this year stands as a testament to the enduring dedication of our alumni, friends and supporters,” said Susan L. Hester, vice chancellor for institutional advancement. “Your commitment advances student achievement, broadens educational opportunities and safeguards the continued vitality of NCCU’s mission for generations to come.”
