Grammy-Award Winning Artists Ledisi, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Kierra Sheard & Young Nudy To Headline NCCU’s Ultimate Homecoming Experience

Step Show, Parade, Football Game and Other Signature Events Also Scheduled

Grammy-Award winning artists will ignite the Bull City during North Carolina Central University’s (NCCU) 2022 Ultimate Homecoming Experience festivities, Sunday, Oct. 30 through Saturday, Nov. 5.

This year’s line-up for the university’s gospel, hip-hop and alumni concerts includes:

  • *Singing sensations Tasha Cobbs Leonard and Kierra Sheard will perform at the Ultimate Gospel Show on Sunday, Oct. 30. Additional entertainment by NCCU’s Worship and Praise Inspirational Gospel Choir and Best of NCCU Competition winner Robert McCreary will be part of the concert experience at 5 p.m. in McDougald-McLendon Arena.
  • *Hip-hop artist Young Nudy will headline the Ultimate Hip-Hop and R&B Concert. He will be joined by trio Travis Porter and rapper Stunna 4 Vegas beginning at 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 3, also in McDougald-McLendon Arena.
  • *Soulful songstress Ledisi will perform at the NCCU Office of Alumni Relations’ Alumni concert on Friday, Nov. 4. University alumnus and jazz musician Marcus Anderson will provide additional entertainment. The show begins at 7 p.m., at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel, 4700 Emperor Blvd., Durham, N.C.

NCCU will also host several of its signature Homecoming events.

On Monday, Oct. 31, NCCU will crown the 2022-2023 Royal Court during the Miss and Mister NCCU Royal Coronation in McDougald-McLendon Arena at 7 p.m.

The 75th Founder’s Day Convocation will begin at 8 a.m., on Friday, Nov. 4, in McDougald-McLendon Arena. The event recognizes the life and contributions of NCCU founder Dr. James E. Shepard. As part of the observance, members of the 1972 class will be inducted into the Society of Golden Eagles. The society includes alumni who graduated from the university at least 50 years ago. Following Convocation, a wreath-laying ceremony will take place in front of the James E. Shepard Statue on campus.

DTLR lifestyle brand will host its HBCU Culture Tour at 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 4, on the Chidley Residence Hall lawn.

*At McDougald-McLendon Arena, NCCU’s Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life will host the annual Ultimate Homecoming Step Show with performances from the National Pan-Hellenic Council and the Council of Independent Organizations, at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 4.

Festivities will continue with the Ultimate Homecoming Parade, starting at 9 a.m., on Saturday, Nov. 5, on Fayetteville Street, beginning at Cornwallis Road with NCCU alumna and City of Durham Mayor Elaine O’Neal serving as grand marshal.

*The parade will be followed by the Homecoming football game against Howard University at 2 p.m., in O’Kelly-Riddick Stadium.
