Tomeka Pryor

Ms. Tomeka Pryor serves as the Academic Success Coordinator of Inclusive Postsecondary Education (IPSE) at North Carolina Central University (NCCU), where she supports students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in achieving meaningful academic success within the postsecondary environment. In this role, she provides individualized academic coaching, coordinates instructional support, monitors student progress, and collaborates with students, faculty, families, and program staff to promote academic growth, self-advocacy, independence, and successful educational outcomes. She is committed to creating an inclusive learning environment where students are empowered to reach their full potential.

Before joining North Carolina Central University, Ms. Pryor served as a Scholarship Specialist with the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority, where she assisted K–12 students with disabilities and their families in accessing tuition assistance for nonpublic education to help ensure equitable educational opportunities. In this role, she reviewed disability documentation, provided guidance on scholarship eligibility and program requirements, and assisted families in navigating enrollment and policy processes. Her work reflected a strong commitment to educational access and supporting students in achieving academic success. She also brings experience in disability support services and case management. At Wake Technical Community College, she assisted students in obtaining academic accommodations while educating students, faculty, staff, and families about disability support services. Her professional background also includes serving individuals experiencing homelessness, survivors of human trafficking, and individuals living with chronic mental illness. Throughout her career, she has conducted comprehensive assessments, coordinated community resources, developed individualized service plans, and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to support the diverse needs of the individuals and communities she has served.

Ms. Pryor proudly served four years in the United States Air Force, where she developed strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills while supporting military personnel and their families. She earned both her Master of Social Work and Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. Ms. Pryor is passionate about serving others and making a positive impact in the lives of those she serves. Throughout her career, she has learned the importance of collaboration, working alongside multidisciplinary teams, and meeting people where they are to foster meaningful relationships built on trust and respect. She believes that every individual deserves the opportunity to succeed and is dedicated to creating supportive environments that promote growth, independence, and equitable access to education.

Outside of work, Ms. Pryor enjoys working out, spending time in nature, trying new foods, and all things music. She values new experiences that contribute to both personal and professional growth.
