Theresa Harmon
Theresa Harmon is a remote adjunct instructor in the Department of Criminal Justice at North Carolina Central University. She holds an M.S. in Criminal Justice from East Carolina University and a B.S. in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina, with a minor in History. She also holds a Quality Matters certification.
Professor Harmon has extensive professional experience in the juvenile justice system, having served as a juvenile probation counselor with the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She also worked with the Gwinnett County Juvenile Court as a juvenile court counselor and as a youth mediation and diversion coordinator.
With over 15 years of experience in higher education, Professor Harmon remains deeply committed to teaching within the criminal justice discipline and actively engages in community-based projects focused on at-risk youth. Most recently, she has volunteered and served as a task force coordinator with Shield of North Carolina.
Professor Harmon is passionate about engaging students, challenging them to think “outside the box,” and emphasizing that “knowledge is power” as they prepare to become informed criminal justice students and professionals.
