Sukeena Stephens
Dr. Sukeena Stephens, a federal law enforcement official with over 28 years of experience, is a notable leader in the Federal Air Marshal Service (FAMS). She currently acts as the liaison to the ombudsman. Recently, Dr. Stephens returned from a deployment with ICE along the southwest border.
Previously, Dr. Stephens headed the Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response Program (VIPR), supervising law enforcement officers and civilians within the agency’s uniform division as an assistant supervisory air marshal. As logistics lead for the Transportation Security Administration’s Critical Incident Management Group (CIMG), she worked with incident managers to handle logistics, coordinate operations, and support affected regions. Her leadership has played a key role in managing responses to Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria, as well as the nationwide COVID-19 emergency response across over 400 airports and 20 field offices.
Besides her federal duties, Dr. Stephens is actively involved in her community and education. She has served as chairwoman of the Virginia Department of Education Career and Technical Education Advisory Committee, promoting initiatives to help students develop skills and prepare for careers. Her community work includes volunteering at the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank and leading a macaroni and cheese drive that has collected over 1,000 boxes to assist families facing food insecurity during Thanksgiving for the past five years. She is also an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and Jack and Jill of America, Inc., where she helped establish both chapters in Fredericksburg, VA.
Dr. Stephens holds a doctorate in public policy and administration with a specialization in homeland security policy and coordination. She also earned a master's degree in public administration with a focus on the Inspector General program from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a certificate in diversity, equity, and inclusion from Cornell University and completed the Chief Risk Officer Program at George Mason University.
A dedicated educator, Dr. Stephens is passionate about training the next generation of female law enforcement officers and public administrators. Originally from New York, she is a proud mother of two sons. In her free time, she enjoys reading and traveling.
