Monique E Holsey-Hyman
Dr. Monique Holsey-Hyman is a tenured associate professor of social work with over 25 years of experience in social work and human services and more than 21 years in higher education. She is deeply committed to mentorship, sponsorship, and student success initiatives, with a focus on supporting historically underrepresented students and emerging leaders in academic and professional spaces.
Throughout her career, she has developed and led mentoring programs, student engagement initiatives, and leadership development strategies designed to strengthen persistence, belonging, and professional identity. Her professional background spans child welfare, mental health, community healthcare, government, and higher education leadership, including work within both predominantly White institutions and historically Black colleges and universities.
Dr. Holsey-Hyman’s scholarship centers on mentorship and sponsorship, leadership development, and advancing equity in higher education and community systems through strengths-based approaches. Drawing from her lived experiences navigating academia as a woman of color, she is committed to creating pathways that empower others through authentic relationships, institutional support, and transformative leadership.
