Jahzar Fields serves as the program coordinator for the TRIO Student Access Program within the Department of Student Access and Success Programs in the Division of Student Affairs.
In this role, Jahzar supports the persistence and graduation of first-generation, limited-income, and/or disabled students registered with the LCI-Student Accessibility Center. He also oversees tutoring and academic support services, coordinates accessibility-support programming, and leads recruitment initiatives in collaboration with the associate director and intake specialist. He contributes directly to the program’s ability to foster student success and meet federally mandated objectives.
Joining us from Wilmington, NC, Jahzar is an up-and-coming higher education and college access professional who believes every student, regardless of background, should have access to the resources, mentorship and belief they need to succeed in their own potential. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Applied Education from NC State University in the Spring of 2025 and is in the process of obtaining his Master of Science in Higher Education.
Before coming into this position, Jahzar served as the next-step advisor for South Central High School in Winterville through the Carolina College Advising Corps. While in this role, he maintained detailed next-step plans for each of the seniors, coordinated college recruiter and job recruiter visits, and designed and implemented programming designed towards college applications, field trips, scholarships and financial aid, career workshops and much more.
