Haley Hickman holds a Master of Library Science from North Carolina Central University, with a concentration in Archives and Records Management. She also earned dual bachelor’s degrees in English from Appalachian State University and brings a multidisciplinary background in research, education, and public service.
In her role as Executive Assistant to Dr. Siobahn Grady, Founding Director of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Research (IAIER), Haley supports the strategic and operational goals of the institute. Her work includes coordinating high-level communications, managing logistics for campus-wide and industry-partnered AI events, facilitating collaboration between internal and external advisory boards, and assisting with AI-focused program development, outreach, and reporting.
Haley’s prior experience includes serving as a Graduate Research Assistant focused on broadband and technology gaps in North Carolina, where she contributed to data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and literature reviews. She has also worked as an editorial assistant and middle school educator, developing a strong foundation in communication, project coordination, and knowledge management.
She is passionate about information stewardship, preserving knowledge resources, and supporting innovative research through thoughtful infrastructure and administrative leadership.
