Gennell Curry

Gennell Curry is a North Carolina State Bar Certified Paralegal and Notary Public with the North Carolina Central University School of Law Clinical Legal Education Program. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and her Master of Public Administration from North Carolina Central University.

Ms. Curry has served at the School of Law since 2015. She began as an Administrative Support Associate and joined the Legal Clinic as a Paralegal in November 2018. In this role, she supports clinical faculty, law students, and clinic operations across Intellectual Property, Criminal Defense, Juvenile Law, Family Law, Civil Litigation, and Veterans Law Clinics.

Ms. Curry also supports the Pro Bono Clinic and community-based legal service projects, including the Elder Law Project, where students assist seniors with wills and advance directives. As a Notary Public, she assists with the execution of legal documents prepared through the project and for members of the law school community.

In 2025, Ms. Curry was selected to receive the Outstanding Paralegal Pro Bono Service Award from the North Carolina Bar Association’s Pro Bono Committee, which recognizes substantial pro bono service that expands access to justice for persons of limited means, charitable groups, and community organizations.

Ms. Curry remains engaged in the paralegal profession through continuing legal education and professional service. Her affiliations include the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association, the National Notary Association, and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice Paralegal Division, where she served as the 2024–2025 Chair. Her community service includes Wreaths Across America and the Great Cycle Challenge, where she rides in support of efforts to fight childhood cancer.

Outside of her professional and community service, Ms. Curry enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren.
