Christopher Lawson is a Human-Centered Computing scholar, researcher, and program coordinator whose work focuses on the design and evaluation of artificial intelligence systems that improve usability and user experience. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science at Clemson University, where his research examines AI-driven approaches to enhancing interaction, safety, and system performance within autonomous vehicle environments.
In addition to his academic work, Christopher serves as Program Coordinator for the Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Research (IAIER), where he supports program operations, research initiatives, and cross-functional efforts aligned with the institute’s mission.
His research spans human–computer interaction (HCI), computer vision, machine learning, and user-centered system design. He is the author of several peer-reviewed publications focused on computing literacy, STEM engagement, and AI education, with recent work exploring scalable digital literacy programs and AI education initiatives across a range of institutional settings.
Christopher also serves as a Graduate Researcher and Teaching Assistant at Clemson University and contributes nationally to computing education as a Program Committee Member for the ACM SIGCSE Technical Symposium (Posters Track). Prior to his doctoral studies, he developed professional experience across IT systems, cybersecurity, data analysis, program management, and instructional design.
Across his roles, Christopher is motivated by advancing human-centered AI and research that produces measurable societal and technological impact.
