Chandra Jennings
Chandra Jennings is a North Carolina Central University (NCCU) community health educator working with the Practice-Based Research Network (PBERN) grant. During her time with PBERN, she has provided education and engaged with numerous communities throughout North Carolina.
Prior to joining NCCU, she worked as a communications specialist (contractor) supporting the Human Resources Office at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In this role, she was responsible for editing reports, ensuring presentations used plain language and complied with 508 guidelines, and organizing career recruitment events. She also developed talking points and presentations for the CDC director and human resources director. At the CDC, she received training in mental health first aid and creating 508-compliant materials.
Jennings is proud of the care and impact she has made on communities throughout her career, particularly through providing education and regulatory guidance to military personnel at Ft. Liberty during the COVID-19 pandemic, offering testing and screening services to coal miners and factory workers, and developing a wellness program for the 44th Medical Brigade at Ft. Liberty as an Oak Ridge for Science and Education (ORISE) fellow.
Jennings holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in public health from the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health (Tucson, Ariz.) and is a certified health education specialist (CHES). She continues expanding her knowledge of public health through classes and continuing education opportunities. Outside of work, Jennings enjoys practicing yoga, traveling, singing, and spending time with sheltered animals.
