We’re excited about your arrival on campus! Below is a detailed move-in schedule for your building. We ask that you arrive during your designated time to help us with the traffic flow on campus. Students must come between their designated times. Students who arrive outside of their designated time will not be permitted to check in and will be instructed to move out of the line.

First-year law students participating in Law School Orientation (August 7–11) are permitted to move in on August 6, 2023. Law students will receive an email from Residential Life with more details pertaining to their move in time.
All students must have their NCCU ID at the time of check-in.
New students participating in student orientation are permitted to move in on August 9, 2023. Students will check in at Elder Student Union between the hours of 12–4 p.m.

Early Arrivals
Students who need to move in early before their designated move-in time listed above can submit a request to Residential Life. All requests must be submitted by Sunday, August 6, 2023. Submitting a request for early arrival does not guarantee approval. A student must receive approval via email from the Residential Life Office to move in early. Students who are approved will be charged a $150.00 early arrival fee.
If a student is a member of a theme housing community or special group that requires them to move in early, the program’s facilitator will provide their name to the Office of Residential Life. A student must receive approval via email from the Residential Life Office. The student will receive an email confirming their arrival date and time.
The early arrival period for Fall 2023 is August 9, 2023, to August 11, 2023.
We will begin to accept requests on Monday, July 3, 2023.
After-Hours Arrivals
Any student who cannot arrive during their designated time can register as an after-hours arrival (8–11 p.m.). Students will not be permitted to check in after 11 p.m. All requests must be submitted by Sunday, August 6, 2023. A student must receive approval via email from the Residential Life Office.

Late Arrivals
Late-arrival students who arrive after the designated move-in period (any time after August 12, 2023) are considered late arrivals and must register to maintain their assignment. All requests must be submitted by Sunday, August 6, 2023. Any student who is not checked in by Sunday, August 20, 2023, will have their assignment removed and their housing application canceled for the academic year. Students will be charged applicable cancellation fees. A student will receive an approval email from the Residential Life Office once their request has been processed.

Making Your Way to Campus
When arriving on campus, all students should first report to the Latham Deck park lot (705 E. Lawson St., Durham, NC 27701). Student should enter the parking lot from East Lawson Street via Fayetteville Street.
Via I-40E and I-85N (from Greensboro) via Google Maps
Take I-40 E to Durham. Keep left at the fork to continue on I-85N and follow the signs for Interstate 85 Durham. Use the right two lanes to take exit 172 for NC-147 toward Durham and Research Triangle Park and Downtown. Continue onto NC-147S. Take exit 11 to merge onto NC-55 E S Alston Ave. Merge onto NC-55 E S Alston Ave. Turn right on Cecil Street. Turn right on Fayetteville Street. Turn right on East Lawson Street. Latham Parking Desk will be to your left.

Take I-95N to exit 81 to merge onto I-40W toward Raleigh. Keep left to stay on NC-147. Take exit 11 for NC-55 and Alston Ave. Turn left onto NC-55 East South Alston Ave. Turn right on Cecil Street. Turn right on Fayetteville Street. Turn right on East Lawson Street. Latham Parking Desk will be to your left.
Via I-85S (from Richmond) via Google Maps
Take I-95S to exit 51. Use the right two lanes to take exit 51 for I-85S and US-460W toward Durham and Atlanta. Continue onto I-85S and US-460W. Keep right at the fork to stay on I-85S. Use the right two lanes to take exit 177 for NC-55 Avondale Dr toward US-15BUS and US 501 Business and Roxboro St and Downtown. Use the left two lanes to turn left onto NC-55E Avondale Dr. Turn right onto North Alston Avenue Turn right onto Liberty (there is a street closure on Alston between Liberty Street and Taylor Street). Turn left onto North Elm Street. Turn left onto Taylor Street. Turn right onto N Alston Turn right on Cecil Street. Turn right on Fayetteville Street. Turn right on East Lawson Street. Taking Care of Business
It is important that you start the semester off right and take care of your business. Please verify your financial status on myEOL to ensure that you are adhering to the University’s financial requirements to retain your housing. The offices below should be able to help you with any issues you have lingering. All students must be validated by August 25, 2023, to remain in the residence halls.

Transportation and Parking Information
- Shuttle services (the Maroon and Grey routes) will resume on August 14, 2023.
- The shuttle route operates around the NCCU campus every 15 minutes from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- NCCU offers a student-operated service that provides transportation on campus from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m., seven days a week during the fall and spring semesters. This service is only available on campus, and riders must provide their Banner ID number when requesting service. To request a ride, call 919-357-1497. The schedule is subject to change based on University holiday schedules, inclement weather and other school closings.
- Go Passes allowing students to ride the local and regional transit systems for free will not be distributed this fall. Both Go Durham and Go Triangle will remain fare-free through June 30, 2024.
