Eyrie Initiative Community Announcements

The inaugural forum brought historian and NCModernist founder George Smart together with a panel of North Carolina architects: Arthur Clement, a preservation architect with fifty years in practice; Danita Brown, the first Black woman licensed to practice architecture in North Carolina; and Cathy Morrison, CEO of Neighboring Concepts and President of the North Carolina Board of Architecture. The event sold out, drawing 65 people in person and 44 online, including National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMAS) student chapters at NC State, UNC Charlotte, and the Savannah College of Art and Design.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Hands-On Preservation Experience (HOPE) Crew program presented its partnership with the Eyrie Initiative to students in the Fine Arts Building, including paid fellowship opportunities along the Fayetteville Street corridor.
