Ms. Wilkerson was appointed by Governor Pat McCrory to serve a four-year term from July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2017. The North Carolina General Assembly—President Pro Tempore—reappointed Ms. Wilkerson to serve a second four-term from July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2021.
Since 1995, she has served as director of Kiddie Kollege Early Learning Center in Durham and is the founder and executive director of the DWS Development Institute. From 1982 to 1995, she served in various positions with Burroughs Wellcome.
She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from North Carolina Central University.
Ms. Wilkerson, her husband, William, and two sons reside in Durham, North Carolina.
