SAT or ACT scores are not required for students at this time. Please note that NCCU is not a test-optional institution; however, we have elected to waive your scores during the 2021–2022 school year. Please note, this waiver is subject to change for the 2022–2023 school year.
Requirements for admission to NCCU include the following:
- Satisfactory 2.5 cumulative grade point average.
- All students must satisfy the University of North Carolina (UNC) minimum admissions requirements to be eligible for admission.
- A complete record from an accredited secondary or preparatory school, with graduation based on UNC minimum undergraduate course requirements:
- In English, four course units emphasizing grammar, composition and literature.
- In mathematics, four course units including Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry and a fourth math higher than Algebra II; or Algebra I, Algebra II and two course units higher than Algebra II (Advanced Functions and Modeling, Discrete Mathematics, Pre-Calculus, Integrated Mathematics IV, AP Statistics, Essential for College Math, AP Calculus A/B or AP Calculus B/C).
- In science, three course units, including at least one lab science.
- In foreign language, two course units of the same foreign language.
- In social studies, two course units, including at least one in U.S. history.
