Program Overview
The Kinesiology and Recreation Administration M.S. program is designed to stimulate professional competence, scholarship and independent research. A student admitted to this program can choose one of the following as a concentration:
- Adapted Physical Education
- Athletic Administration
- Recreation Management: includes study in administration and management, preparing students for leadership roles in recreation and leisure service organizations
- Teacher Education: the applicant must have earned an undergraduate degree in physical education from an institution of higher education accredited by a regional association and must also have the North Carolina “A” license or the equivalent from another state
- Therapeutic Recreation: includes a strong focus on the theoretical and practical examination of contemporary interventions and processes in recreational therapy
These concentrations provide comprehensive graduate education in kinesiology and recreation administration and are designed to provide advanced study in teaching, learning, curriculum development and leadership.
