Assistive Technology in Visual Impairment, MEd

The Assistive Technology in Visual Impairments, MEd is an online graduate program that trains professional to assess, configure, and instruct in specialized assistive technology (AT). Graduates of this program are prepared to serve in K-12 schools, higher education disability services, independent service agencies, rehabilitation services and as technology experts. Candidates learn firsthand uses of specialized technology, assessment techniques for barrier identification, methods in individualizing instruction, and inclusive practices to collaborate with other AT and service professionals.

Admission to the program requires the candidate to have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution with at least a 2.7 undergraduate GPA, 2 letter of recommendation, and a personal interview with a member of the department. Official transcripts for all previous institutions must be submitted directly to NCCU.

• Successful completion of a comprehensive examination
• Successful completion of Taskstream submission requirements
• A successful passing grade of “B’ or higher with no more than one grade of “C” in all courses attempted
• Successful completion of a 3-credit hour practicum/internship
• Successful exit interview prior to graduation
