Biography
Hometown: Rocky Mount, North Carolina
Current Career Title: Doctoral resident in the superintendent's office, Boston Public Schools
As a 7th-year school leader in the Highline Public School district, Holloway previously served as assistant principal at Raisbeck Aviation High School and principal at Highline High School. Most recently, he successfully opened Maritime High School, a mastery- and project-based learning school in the Greater Seattle Area. He began his career teaching high school mathematics in Durham Public Schools and completed his principal internship at Boston Public Schools (BPS).
Holloway is currently a doctoral resident in the superintendent’s office at BPS, supporting districtwide strategy, policy and leadership development while pursuing his Doctor of Education Leadership (Ed.L.D.) at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Holloway earned a B.S. in mathematics from North Carolina Central University (NCCU) and a master’s in school leadership from Harvard. During his undergraduate studies, he was a student-athlete on the men’s basketball team (2006–2009), served as Mr. NCCU (2009–2010) and is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
He is an equity-driven leader committed to academic excellence and expanding access to innovative learning for all students. Tremain is also a proud husband and father of three, as well as the owner of a spirited Australian labradoodle.
