A proud two-time alumna of NCCU, Tameka V. Williams earned dual bachelor's degrees in political science and criminal justice and a Master of Science in criminal justice before completing her Ph.D. in leadership studies at North Carolina A&T State University.
Williams brings 18 years of experience in criminal justice, higher education, and organizational development. She is currently the director of staff investment and curiosity at Justice System Partners, where she leads initiatives for organizational transformation and oversees multi-million dollar projects aimed at advancing criminal justice reform across the country. Additionally, as the CEO of Leaving a Legacy, LLC, she provides consulting services to HBCUs to develop people-centered leaders.
Her commitment to NCCU is evident through her seven-year tenure as clinical assistant professor and director of student support, where she taught criminal justice courses and developed comprehensive student support initiatives. During this time, she founded J.E.W.E.L.S., Inc., an organization that has grown to more than 350 members across three institutions: NCCU, North Carolina A&T and UNC Charlotte. Under her leadership, J.E.W.E.L.S. has awarded more than $7,500 in scholarships to support student development and professional opportunities.
