Phillip Boyd Jr. is an accomplished Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) educator dedicated to equipping students with essential life skills and fostering holistic development. As a first-generation college student and first-generation teacher, Boyd brings a deeply personal understanding of the transformative power of education and the importance of representation in the classroom.
He also serves as an impact leader for North Carolina with Profound Gentlemen, where he mentors male educators of color and advocates for equity and excellence in education. His leadership and dedication have earned him honors, including Out of this World Educator recognized by First Bank (2022), Teacher of the Year at R.J. Reynolds High School (2022–2023), and Educator of the Year from the Center for Racial Equity in Education (CREED) (2025).
Boyd is committed to expanding college access and engagement, ensuring his students not only tour and attend North Carolina Central University but also stay actively involved in campus life and academic opportunities. His advocacy for HBCUs, first-generation college students and student success is a key part of his educational mission.
Known for his innovative curriculum design, inclusive classroom culture and collaborative spirit, Boyd actively collaborates with colleagues, families and community partners to create meaningful learning experiences that prepare students for success beyond the classroom.
