Meghan Wilder is an educator, mentor and nonprofit leader dedicated to strengthening education and community ties in Durham, North Carolina. Her career began in 2011 as a Durham Public Schools substitute and has since included roles as instructional assistant, lead teacher, assistant magnet coordinator, and student services coordinator. She currently supports more than 40 beginning educators across seven schools as a district beginning teacher mentor for Durham Public Schools.
Wilder earned both her B.A. in Elementary Education and M.Ed. in School Administration from North Carolina Central University (NCCU). As a proud descendant of Dr. James E. Shepard and Annie Day Shepard, founders of NCCU, she continues their legacy of educational access, leadership and community uplift.
She is the co-founder of Bull City B.E.S.T., a nonprofit serving more than 200 youth through free academic, athletic and leadership programming focused on equity and empowerment.
Wilder is a proud member of Kappa Delta Pi National Professional Association and Honor Society for Educators, Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for Women Educators and the Alpha Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
Above all, Wilder is a proud daughter, wife and mother who leads with purpose, heart and an unwavering commitment to building strong schools and stronger communities.
