Lance Scott is a three-time Grammy-nominated songwriter, producer and educator whose work lives at the intersection of music, public health and community empowerment. His latest Grammy nomination comes from his contributions to AnceStars, a children's album by Nnenna and Pierce Freelon.
At North Carolina Central University (NCCU), Scott serves as both resident artist and administrative associate in the Department of Public Health Education. In 2024, he co-designed and co-taught an innovative course examining the relationship between Black American music and wellness. Outside academia, he produces creative projects, leads songwriting workshops, mentors emerging Durham artists and hosts live music events in collaboration with Durham community leaders.
