Jessica Faison-Johnson is the daughter of Jessie and Katie Faison of Mt. Olive, NC, where she is very proud to have been raised! She soared into Eagle Land after high school and graduated from North Carolina Central University before moving to Raleigh, NC, and pursuing her first master’s degree in Public Administration, also at NCCU.
To help pay for graduate school, Jessica secured a teacher assistant position at Bugg Elementary in Raleigh. Working as a teacher assistant is what inspired her to become an educator. In 2012, she graduated from North Carolina State University with a Master of Arts in Teaching Social Studies and obtained her 6-12 Social Studies licensure.
Jessica began her teaching career as a social studies teacher at Lowe’s Grove Middle School (LGMS) in Durham, NC. In 2017, she was awarded LGMS Teacher of the Year and was a top-five finalist for Durham Public School’s Teacher of the Year. In May of 2018, she graduated from NCCU with a Master of School Administration degree and currently works as an assistant principal at Lowes Grove Middle School. Jessica is also a proud member of the Raleigh Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated.
