Gregory D. Pate is a licensed and nationally certified psychotherapist based in Washington, D.C., where he has resided since 2012. Born in Richmond County, North Carolina, and raised in Raleigh, he is the son of Tabatha and Gregory Pate.
Pate graduated from Southeast Raleigh High School and earned his bachelor’s (2008) and master’s (2012) degrees from North Carolina Central University (NCCU), where he continues to be actively involved in the NCCU Alumni Association.
Currently pursuing a doctoral degree in community care counseling with a specialization in marriage and families, Pate’s academic and professional focus is dedicated to supporting African American families as they navigate complex challenges, adapt to adversity and contribute to community restoration and empowerment.
He holds the position of vice president at Amethyst Counseling Services and conducts psychological assessments at a local hospital. Pate founded a men’s support group that provides Black men with a weekly forum to build community, offer mutual support and challenge prevailing societal norms regarding Black male identity. Additionally, he is in the final stages of developing a Washington, D.C.–based radio program examining the impact of music on mental health, targeting African American and global audiences.
Outside of his professional commitments, Pate enjoys traveling, attending live music and sports events, and exploring varied culinary traditions. He is devoted to establishing a legacy that inspires and motivates his loved ones.
