Chassity K. Coston currently serves as principal of Bigelow Middle School in Newton Public Schools, one of the premier school districts in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Ms. Coston’s career path led her to New England after educating and leading schools across North Carolina, as well as internationally in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and Salmiya, Kuwait.
Along with serving as the founding principal for a Kuwaiti international school, Ms. Coston has achieved several other accolades in her educational career. As a beginning teacher, Ms. Coston led her students to achieve the second-highest school-wide, end-of-year test scores. In 2017, Ms. Coston attained her master's in school administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also completed the Future-Ready Leadership Program for aspiring school leaders.
Chassity’s experiences as a teacher and educational leader encouraged her to start her own educational leadership blog, The Bossy Principal, and her own consulting firm, TBP, LLC, which aims to mentor and assist teachers in their transition to school leadership. Ms. Coston is a charter member and serves as vice-chair for the Boston-New England Chapter of the NCCU Alumni Association. She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
