Following eight years of honorable service in the United States Air Force, Arthur Anderson earned both undergraduate and master's degrees in criminal justice from North Carolina Central University (NCCU), completing the master’s program in just one year.
His commitment to public service spans multiple levels of government. In Gov. Roy Cooper's Office of Public Engagement, he represented eastern North Carolina during critical disaster recovery efforts following Hurricanes Floyd and Matthew. At the NC Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, he helped shape legislation protecting military installations while supporting service members and their families.
At the NC Department of Administration, Anderson spearheaded the establishment of the department's first Small Business Enterprise Division, certifying over 2,800 small business enterprises. He successfully managed the RETOOL NC grant program, distributing $42 million to marginalized enterprises impacted by COVID-19, demonstrating the ability to administer large-scale financial assistance during crisis.
Currently serving as senior analyst/program manager for Durham's Office of Economic and Workforce Development, Anderson manage initiatives that strengthen the local economy through financial literacy and business acumen programs for low- to moderate-income entrepreneurs. His military foundation, combined with extensive experience in disaster recovery, economic development, and community rebuilding, positions him to drive initiatives that foster economic equity and resilience across North Carolina.
