When Anthony Morgan came to North Carolina Central University, he had no idea that he would end up serving communities through a career in local law enforcement. After joining the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety in Michigan, his commitment and leadership led him to obtain the rank of senior shift lieutenant. Chief Morgan’s efforts to build trust through several community engagement initiatives were featured in several local publications during his tenure.
Since then, Chief Morgan was selected to serve as chief of police for the City of Covington in Covington, Virginia, and he is currently serving as chief of police with the City of Mount Rainier Police Department in Mount Rainier, Maryland. Chief Morgan has served as the first Black chief of police for both departments and remains committed to bringing significant change to the field of law enforcement.
