Amber Banks is the president of the African American Alliance of CDFI CEOs, where she maintains general oversight of the organization’s operation and works to establish program priorities, align human and financial resources to achieve goals and identify funding strategies to close the capital capacity gap for Black-led community development financial institutions.
Her 20+ year career has been focused on the intersection of scalable, community-centered financial models and economic equity for Black Americans. This includes numerous executive roles in the private and non-profit sectors.
She also currently serves as the board chair for Reinvestment Partners, an North Carolina-based non-profit focused on fostering healthy and just communities by addressing poverty and social injustice in the areas of food, housing, community development, health and financial services.
Banks has a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from North Carolina Central University (NCCU). Additionally, she has completed many formal professional development programs, including obtaining a certificate in community development finance from Opportunity Finance Network, becoming a Leadership Triangle Goodman Fellow and completing the Performance Measurement for Effective Management of Nonprofit Organizations program at Harvard Kennedy School.
Banks lives in Durham, North Carolina, with her two children, Peyton and Andre, and their dog Milo.
