The North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Student Health Center (SHC) Pharmacy provides comprehensive, on-campus pharmacy services to meet your prescription needs. We are committed to delivering convenient, accessible care that promotes health and well-being to all our students, staff, and faculty on campus.
We are a full service on-campus pharmacy that offers filling and dispensing of your prescription medications. Your provider can call in, fax, write or electronically prescribe a new prescription to be filled at our pharmacy. We can also transfer your prescription from any retail pharmacy. Call the pharmacy for a refill on your medication. Please call a week before you run out of your medication to ensure sufficient time for the prescription to be prepared without interruption in therapy.
This pharmacy is the only full-service retail pharmacy located on the NCCU campus and specializes in meeting the needs of all NCCU students, faculty, and staff.
The pharmacy sells OTC medications. Note: Prices are subject to change at any time, depending on acquisition cost and market prices.
If you would like to have your prescriptions transferred to the NCCU Student Health Center Pharmacy, please contact the Pharmacy department by telephone, by email or regular mail, or drop your prescription off at the pharmacy at your convenience.

We accept North Carolina Medicaid, Medicaid Managed Care plans (AmeriHealth, Wellcare, Healthy Blue, and Carolina Complete) and most third-party insurance plans. We do not accept/bill out-of-state medicaid plans.
Please make sure to have your pharmacy benefits information with you when you come to the pharmacy; a physical or digital copy is acceptable. The pharmacy benefits card should include RxBIN, RxPCN, Rx group, and member ID. The pharmacy does not accept any discount cards.
The pharmacy accepts several different forms of payment, including credit card, debit card, health savings account (HSA), Apple pay, tap to pay or adding a charge to your e-bill. The pharmacy does not accept Eagle card or cash payments for any services or purchases.
Please Note: Mixing various prescription and non-prescription medications — including supplements and vitamins — can result in serious, life-threatening drug interactions. Never take prescription medications not prescribed to you by a licensed medical professional and make sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist everything you’re taking, even if it seems harmless to you. Additionally, sharing your prescription medications with friends or family can end in dangerous health consequences for them and serious legal complications for you.

Please take the proper steps to ensure you avoid medication mistakes. These steps include the following:
Rather than simply letting your doctor write a prescription and send you on your way, be sure to ask the name of the medication. SHC recommends taking a photo of your medication labels to keep track of the name, dose strength, and directions.
Take notes or ask your doctor to write down instructions or other information that is important to know about your medication or condition to help you remember.
It’s important to understand your medication because you are more likely to use it correctly, more likely to know what to expect from the medication, and better able to report what you are using and problems to your doctors and pharmacist.
Before you use any medication, you should know when to use it, how much to use, and how long to use it. Be sure to read the medication label every time. There are (free) refill reminder apps available for patients to document and stay on schedule with medications. Be sure to set a reminder when it’s time for your next dose.
Make it a habit of keeping all of your health care professionals informed about everything that you use will help ensure that you do not use two medicines with the same active ingredient or use anything that will interact with something else you are using.
