Join the Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Research (IAIER) for Reading Between the Algorithms, our book club exploring the people, systems, and ideas shaping our increasingly AI-powered world.
Artificial intelligence is about more than technology. It raises important questions about power, ethics, bias, privacy, responsibility, and the role these systems play in our everyday lives. Through each selection, participants are invited to read, reflect, and take part in thoughtful conversations about the social and human impact of AI and emerging technologies.
What to Expect:
- Engaging discussions around AI, technology, ethics, and society
- Conversations connecting each book to real-world issues and emerging technologies
- A welcoming space to ask questions, share perspectives, and think critically
- In-person participation at IAIER, with a Zoom option available for those unable to attend on campus
- Access to each book as an e-book through the James E. Shepard Memorial Library
2026–2027 Schedule
All Book Club meetings begin at 11:00 a.m. and are held in the Ethics and Governance Classroom at the IAIER Building. A Zoom option will also be available for registered participants who cannot attend in person.
