North Carolina Central University (NCCU) officials are closely monitoring the light wintry event expected to impact central North Carolina early on Friday, Dec. 5. NCCU will operate under Condition 1 (Reduced Operations) of the Adverse Weather and Emergency Event Policy on Friday, Dec. 5, beginning at midnight, until 11:59 p.m. All final exams scheduled for Dec. 5 will take place virtually.

Renter’s Insurance

Think about all of the valuable items that you will be bringing to your new home away from home (e.g., a laptop, tablet, smartphone, TV or gaming system). What would happen if they were lost, stolen or damaged?

We encourage all students to purchase some form of renter’s insurance while living in a residence hall. Students desiring protection from incidental damages must make their own arrangements for insurance.  Families should check their homeowner’s insurance policy or contact their insurance agent to see if renter’s insurance is the best choice for their student. Check out these online resources below from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners Consumer Affairs; they detail the value of renter’s insurance and provide consumers with some reviews on top renter's insurance companies.

 

One of our industry partners, National Student Services, Inc. (NSSI), provides insurance plans for students living in the residence halls. NSSI is not the only provider of insurance policies, and you are encouraged to find the company that best suits your needs.
