NCCU utilizes Handshake, a career services management tool, as an exclusive service to students and alumni, as well as employers seeking to hire NCCU students and alumni for job or internship opportunities. There is no fee for employers to post opportunities. Employers who have been granted access to Handshake at NCCU will have the ability to:
- Access and manage employer account information
- Post jobs, internships and events
- Request and manage on-campus interviews
- Connect directly to qualified NCCU students and alumni
New Employer Registration
To post a job or internship at North Carolina Central University, you must first create an employer account with Handshake. Here are the steps:
- Go to https://app.joinhandshake.com/register.
- Select the "Employer" account type from the options presented.
- Fill out the information requested and then click "Sign up."
- Read the employer guidelines, terms of services and privacy policy.
- After you confirm and verify your email, connect with North Carolina Central University.
- A staff member will then review your account.
- Once your account has been approved, you can begin posting jobs and registering for CPDC events.
Post Jobs and Internships
After creating a Handshake Employer Account, you can post jobs and internships. Here are the steps:
- Access the login page and enter your username and password. Click the "Forgot my Password" tab if you have misplaced your password (a new one will be emailed to you).
- Start by clicking "Post a Job" from your home dashboard or clicking on "Jobs" in the left-hand navigation bar and clicking "Create a Job" in the top right-hand corner.
- You will be asked to complete four tabs in the posting. These include the Job Basics, details, preferences and schools you would like to post the position to.
- Once you have posted your job or internship online, it will be placed in a "holding bin" to be reviewed by a CPDC staff member. Your job or internship will be immediately viewable to our students if approved. If it is not approved, we will notify you of the reason.
- Repeat steps one through four as needed.
Post Jobs and Internships
The Career and Professional Development Center reserves the right to determine posting eligibility and delete job postings deemed unsuitable for students or alumni seeking full-time, part-time or internship positions. When submitting postings, please ensure they include the following:
- A detailed, clear and comprehensive job description
- Your company or organization must have an active website that contains helpful information about your organization for the potential candidate; the website should not be in the pre-launch or beta phase. Social media sites should not take the place of an organization's website.
- Minimum of one point of contact within the organization; The corporate email address should be associated with the organization's website domain (e.g., [email protected]), and individual contact names and emails should match whenever possible.
- Compensation is indicated and based on base salary (not including commission).
Complaints received by the CPDC at any time regarding unethical work practices or treatment of students or alumni by an employer will result in the discontinuation of access.
