Overview

The Department of Public Administration at North Carolina Central University is a community of teachers, researchers, public servants students and community partners that work collaboratively to prepare students, from diverse backgrounds, to become professionals with the knowledge and skills required for ethical leadership in the public and non-profit sectors. The department seeks to accomplish its mission  through effective teaching, applied and scholarly research and service to developing communities. The Department is a unit within the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences and the NCCU Graduate School. We have three major functional areas which are essential in creating a learning experience that provides students with both the theoretical foundation and the practical experience needed to accomplish our mission to develop public sector leaders and managers:

  1. The undergraduate program offering a Bachelors of Arts in Public Administration and is currently authorized to plan a BS degree in Public Transportation.
  2. The Master of Public Administration (MPA) program, which offers an MPA via two tracks, a General program (evening program) and an Executive/mid-career program (weekend).
  3. The Research and Community Outreach program includes Public Allies, The Community Research and Technical Assistance Initiative, the Liberian Studies Journal and various HUD community grants.
