The North Carolina Central University Department of Music offers students access to a distinguished faculty, challenging curriculum, abundant performing opportunities, state-of-the-art technology, and innovative teaching and learning opportunities.

NCCU music degree programs combine time-tested pedagogical approaches with the newest innovations in technology and entrepreneurship.  NCCU graduates are ready for careers in music performance, education, business and industry, as well as future graduate studies. 

Music Degree Programs

Bachelor of Arts in Music

 Concentrations include:

  • Instrumental /Vocal Performance
  • Jazz Studies
  • Music Education
  • Music Industry
  • Ethnomusicology
  • Sacred Music

Students majoring in Jazz Studies, Sacred Music, Music Industry and Ethnomusicology have the option of earning teaching licensure and a second degree in Music Education.  A minor in music is also offered.
