At approximately 12 p.m. today, North Carolina Central University experienced a power outage due to an off-campus malfunction necessitating a cessation of operations that has been ongoing since 1:30 p.m.
Upon assessment of the electrical and HVAC systems, the leadership team decided to suspend classes and all other scheduled on-campus activities until 8 a.m. tomorrow. Essential personnel are in place and working with vendors to restore all HVAC utilities to full capacity.
Student health and safety is not compromised in any way but some campus constituents may find temperatures warm as crews work to restore air conditioning service.
