
The North Carolina Central University Institute for Civic Engagement and Social Change will offer a tribute to Senator Edward Kennedy’s contributions to government and society with the theme, “Senator Edward M. Kennedy: Making a Difference Through Service.” The program is scheduled for Thursday, September 17, at the H.M. Michaux, Jr. School of Education, at 7 p.m.
Everett Ward, member of the Executive Committee of the Democratic National Committee; Rep. Larry D. Hall (Dem.), of the North Carolina General Assembly House of Representatives; and Ms. Anita Brown-Graham, executive director of the Institute for Emerging Issues at North Carolina State University will offer their reflections. A slide show and musical performances will complement the speakers.
The event is free and open to the public.
North Carolina Central University is the first publicly supported liberal arts college for African-Americans and this year, U.S. News & World Report ranked NCCU among the top ten HBCUs in the country. As NCCU celebrates its Centennial Year, a diverse student body of more than 8,500 students is enrolled in programs such as law, business, library science, nursing, education, and biotechnology.
